The Community of Queensville is a small unincorporated community in the Town of East Gwillimbury, York Region, Ontario, Canada. Queensville is a charming and evolving village in the northern part of East Gwillimbury, within York Region.Nestled at the crossroads of Leslie Street and Queensville Sideroad, it lies just east of Highway 404 and includes a historic church, cemetery, fire hall, community centre, park, tennis courts and a softball diamond Originally named Hackett's Corners and renamed in 1843 to honour Queen Victoria, it retains a quaint village charm even as the region prepares for rapid growth . Historically quiet and close-knit, Queensville is now experiencing a thoughtfully planned transformation, with new residential developments nestled among farmland, forests, and rolling hills. Its character reflects a peaceful rural past with a promising, people-centered future.
Nature and recreation go hand in hand in Queensville. Residents enjoy access to numerous green spaces, including the Queensville Park, which features tennis courts, baseball diamonds, playgrounds, and room to roam. Trails wind through nearby forests and farmland, offering stunning views year-round. As part of East Gwillimbury's trail network, Queensville is connected to Holland Landing, Sharon, and beyond—ideal for hiking, cycling, and even snowshoeing in winter. Plans for additional parkland, walking paths, and naturalized stormwater ponds in future developments ensure the area retains its green charm as it grows. The heart of the community includes a well‑appointed park with tennis courts, playgrounds and a softball diamond, plus ball fields and trails. East Gwillimbury’s Strategic Master Plan identifies the need for more parks, trails, arenas, ice surfaces, skate pads, and aquatic facilities as population expands Queensville is also conveniently close to regional conservation areas accessible via Highway 404.
While small in size, Queensville has its own unique flair. Though now closed, the beloved Queensville Antique Mall lives on in memory as a destination that once drew visitors from across Ontario. Local artisans, farm stands, and pop-up markets bring character and colour to the area throughout the seasons. Annual events like East Gwillimbury’s "Tapestry of Taste" and cultural fairs often see strong participation from the Queensville community.
What's the scoop on the Bradford Bypass
The Ontario Government is planning to build a 16.2 kilometre long, 4-lane freeway connecting Highway 400 and Highway 404. Dubbed the Bradford Bypass, the highway will extend from Highway 400 between Lines 8 and 9 in Bradford West Gwillimbury; will cross a small portion of King Township and will connect to Highway 404 between Queensville Sideroad and Holborn Road in East Gwillimbury. There are proposed full and partial interchanges, as well as grade separated bridge crossings at intersecting municipal roads and watercourses, including the Holland River and Holland River East Branch.
